A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on Main Street in Littleton, N.H., on Wednesday afternoon. The accident took place at the crosswalk in front of the Littleton Public Library at around 3:50 p.m. The driver of the vehicle, James Dingman, was traveling eastbound and hauling a load of wood chips to Berlin when the incident occurred. He said he frequently travels through downtown Littleton and always proceeds carefully on the town’s busy Main Street. “I was looking. I always pay attention in this town,” he said. “I saw everybody on the sidewalk, but I never saw this person.” Dingman was unaware anything had transpired until an oncoming motorist frantically gestured and sounded his horn. “I honestly couldn’t tell you [what happened],” he said. The victim’s identity has not been released and the incident remains under investigation.
