FRANCONIA, N.H. — A man died Saturday after falling down a waterfall on Cannon Mountain, according to Fish and Game. The man and two companions rode the tram to the summit and has planned to explore the area and take the tram back. However they changed their minds and hiked down what they thought was a ski trail. They reached a steep, rocky section with a waterfall when tragedy struck. “As the group tried to maneuver their way down, one of the hikers slipped causing him to fall off the edge,” Fish and Game said. The two companions lost sight of the man and called 911 at around 12:50 p.m. A search team discovered the man deceased at the bottom of the waterfall. They delivered his body to the tram parking lot at around 3:35 p.m. The man’s identity has not been released pending next of kin notification.
